Vacancy: Partnerships and Engagements Officer

Job Summary

Under the guidance of the Senior Manager, Partnerships and Engagements, the Partnerships and Engagements Officer will facilitate and coordinate building of partnerships, support the delivery of meaningful engagements and implement key unit projects with a strong focus on resilience, sustainability and consistency.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Drafting advocacy briefs and press releases for International Days and other events that may need a response.
  • Research assistance support on emerging policies and developments in the digital environment.
  • Coordinate the Londa research process. 
  • Provide community updates to the networks on new developments as assigned by the line manager.
  • Attend and participate at community events.
  • Recruitment of new members to the Net Rights Coalition.
  • Keep the database of NRC members up to date.
  • Update the digital rights and inclusion monitoring dashboard with developments in the digital rights environment. 
  • Draft activity reports for community events, agendas and concept notes for community events. 
  • Update unit dashboards with relevant content and updates.
  • Oversee PIN Fellowship programs and engage alumni.
  • Digital Rights and Inclusion Forum (DRIF) coordination and reporting. 
  • Contribute to the ideation process for fundraising initiatives.
  • Any other tasks, as may be assigned in line with the community engagements. 

 

Key Performance Indicators 

  • Research: 

-Draft at least one Press Release per quarter  commemorating international days relevant to PIN work.

-Publish two research outputs per quarter.

 

  • Programs: 

-Draft at least one concept note per quarter for a planned activity, 

-Draft at least one agenda and activity report for community events as assigned. 

-Assist in coordinating DRIF annually by scheduling necessary meetings, minute taking where so required and giving community reports on the event.

 

  • Net Rights Coalition:  

– Share at least two community updates per month with the NRC on any developments, research or upcoming events.

-Maintain an NRC database increasing it by at least six new members per year.

 

  • Networks participation:

-Attend at least four network events per quarter apart from the Net Rights Coalition.

-Host at  least one session annually  at a regional and international platform.

 

  • Fellowships Coordination: 

-Oversee the  Digital Rights and Inclusion Learning Lab and relevant Digital Rights and Inclusion Media Fellowship  cycles every year as assigned.

– Set up and host relevant meetings annually on PIN fellowships to get inputs and guidance on fellowships. This includes internally and with the Fellowships Advisory Committee.

 

  • Funds Mobilization: 

-Contribute to the ideation process on at least four fundraising proposals in the year.

EDUCATION, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Degree in Law, Public Policy, Public Administration or relevant body of knowledge along with at least 3 years’ post qualification experience, three of which must be relevant to the digital rights and inclusion space
  •  Knowledgeable about digital rights and inclusion, and current policies/trends that promote ICT-related growth and development
  • Experience in advocacy, policy review, monitoring and research, project implementation and evaluation
  • Proven work experience  coordinating coalitions or networks.
  • Experience planning and leading community initiatives, including pan-African/bi lingual events 
  • Ability to identify and track relevant community KPIs 
  • Project Coordination
  • Understanding of budgeting, financial planning and financial reports

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be a strong communicator; have excellent written, presentation and oral communication in English. The same excellence in French is desirable. 
  • Strong knowledge and evidence of research methods and practices 
  • Vast knowledge and understanding of program planning, analysis, implementation and development
  • Ability to professionally engage and work with a team and key stakeholders in various settings
  • Demonstrated ability to draft proposals, reports  or other organizational documents with minimal supervision
  • Strong understanding of digital rights issues
  • Time management and administrative skills
  • Proven ability to set priorities, work independently, take initiative, manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Competence in the usage of computer systems, software, data and IT applications
  • Good interpersonal skills

 

 The successful candidate must be resident in Lusaka (Zambia), Bulawayo (Zimbabwe) or Nairobi (Kenya).

Remuneration is between $9,600 and $12,000 gross salary per annum depending on years of quality and relevant experience. This comprises annual gross salary and reimbursements (housing, transportation allowance, pension, meal allowance, utility allowance, dependant allowance, communication allowance). 

Other benefits included are 13th month salary, paid vacation, training and development, birthday allowance, medical cover for self, spouse and up to 3 children, bi-annual care package, paid sabbatical leave, paid maternity leave, paid paternity leave, amongst others.
