Paradigm Initiative is seeking proposals from reputable and qualified web design companies, firms or freelancers to redesign and rebrand our existing website and subdomains. The goal of the redesign is to enhance user experience, improve site structure and accessibility, and optimise loading times while maintaining our organisation’s core content and services.
Paradigm Initiative (PIN) connects under-served young Africans with digital opportunities and ensures the protection of their rights. We provide training, advocacy, and resources to support digital inclusion, digital rights, and digital entrepreneurship across the African continent. Our website serves as a hub for our programmes, resources, and advocacy efforts.
OBJECTIVES OF THE REDESIGN
Paradigm Initiative is inviting proposals from reputable and qualified companies with a track record of success in designing and producing new templates for the current website and subdomains. The templates will provide a new look and feel to the web and unlock the potential functionalities of the current software while displaying the content in a more organized, attractive, and user-friendly manner.
The primary objectives of this website redesign are:
- Improve overall user experience by making the website more intuitive and easier to navigate.
- Restructure the website’s information architecture to make content more accessible and easier to find.
- Ensure the website complies with web accessibility standards.
- Improve loading time speed by optimizing media, and code, and implementing modern web technologies.
- Ensure the website is fully responsive and performs well across different devices (mobile, tablet, desktop).
SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of work for this project includes, but is not limited to:
- Audit and Review the current website structure and performance.
- Redesign and Development of the website.
- User Experience (UX) Design: Creating a user-friendly navigation system and interface.
- Content Structure: Organise content in a logical, easy-to-find manner.
- SEO and Performance Optimization: Optimise page load times and ensure SEO best practices.
- Accessibility Compliance: Ensure the website meets Web Content Accessibility standards.
- Testing: Cross-browser testing, mobile responsiveness, and performance testing.
- Training: Provide a basic training guide on how to maintain the new website for internal staff.
DELIVERABLES
- Fully functional and optimised website.
- Documentation and training materials for website maintenance.
- Six months post-launch support for debugging and technical issues.
- Source code handover: Full source code, including all developed libraries, shall be handed over to Paradigm Initiative.
- Ensure a consistent visual language on the new site by introducing fixed styles in templates ensuring consistency in fonts, formatting, icons, images, and layout techniques.
- The new look and feel should be adapted to the homepage, sections, subsections, and the following components of the site: Press release template, Blogspots webpage template, publications webpage template, registration webpage template, Webinar webpage template, and project pages.
- The new templates should include standard page elements, including a header, footer, tabs, persistent navigation, contact us, email, and page print options.
- The new templates should guarantee that the site’s most recent content is automatically captured on the homepage in an organised way, following specific categories, tags, or other custom taxonomies.
- All section and subsection web pages should incorporate functionalities to guarantee the latest information on that section and subsection is displayed.
Deliverables clause
Once a company is selected, the contract may be amended with time and materials to capture new specific developments on the site upon request of the Paradigm Initiative communication and technical team.
TIMELINE
The entire development timeline is set for 3 months from the signing of the contract.
PROPOSAL REQUIREMENTS
Proposals should include the following:
- Company Information: An overview of your company, team, and relevant experience.
- Portfolio: Examples of previous website redesigns, preferably within the non-profit or similar sectors.
- Resume/CV: This should highlight the relevant experience and qualifications of each individual who will work on the project.
- Timeline: A proposed timeline with key milestones for the project, aligning with the 3-month development period.
- Cost Estimate: A detailed cost breakdown for each phase of the project.
Shortlisted organizations will be requested to share the following:
- Proposed Approach: Describe how you would approach the project, including tools, platforms, or technologies you plan to use.
- Recommendation: A written recommendation from two (2) clients or colleagues you have worked with within the last two (2) years
EVALUATION CRITERIA
Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Relevant experience and portfolio of the company.
- Experience and qualifications of the company’s team proposed to deliver the work by the company. This part of the evaluation will be based on the CVs of the individuals comprising the team that need to be shared by the firm in their proposal.
- Proposed approach and understanding of the project requirements.
- Cost-effectiveness and value for money.
- Ability to meet the specified timeline.
- Reviews and Recommendations from your previous clients.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- The vendor should demonstrate and provide examples of previous experience in the performance of similar services as follows:
- Be a reputable firm with at least 7 years of prior experience designing and developing visually appealing and navigation-friendly websites;
- Familiarity and relevant experience in using different Content Management Systems (CMS);
- Have a broad knowledge of current web development technologies and design tools in the field, and new software and other web programming languages and programs.
- Have excellent knowledge of recent trends in graphic design, web sites.
- Demonstrate the ability to create innovative and visually appealing designs;
- Key professional staff qualifications and competence needed for the assignment.
- The firm’s team should comprise of developer(s) and UI/UX or Product designer.
