Synopsis
Innovation alone cannot meet society’s needs without access. The Signal is the 6th short film by Paradigm Initiative and sheds light on the realities and dangers of digital exclusion. Inspired by findings from the 2024 Londa report on digital rights and inclusion in Africa, the film follows Amina, a young innovator, and her community as they navigate the challenges of life on the wrong side of the digital divide despite rapid technological advancements around them. The Signal explores how lack of access can limit education, healthcare, economic opportunities, and participation in an increasingly connected world. More than a film, it is an invitation to reflect on who benefits from innovation, who gets left behind, and what it will take to build a truly inclusive digital future for all. Produced by Paradigm Initiative, the short film is a testament to the organisation’s commitment to advancing digital rights and inclusion.
