Paradigm Initiative Nigeria (PIN) will host the 5th edition of the annual Internet Freedom Forum from April 25 – 27, 2017 in Lagos, Nigeria. To this end, registration for interested participants and submission of proposals for side-events/session is now open. The annual Internet Freedom Forum is a major Forum in Africa where issues on Internet freedom and digital rights with particular focus on indices around Internet Freedom in Africa are extensively discussed. The Forum draws participants from both within and outside Africa and there is also an array of speakers and panellists from different multi-stakeholder groups including Internet Freedom Advocates, Policy Makers, the Technical Community, and Businesses selected to speak at the event to further enrich and broaden the conversations around Internet rights and freedom in Africa. To register for the event, please visit: https://pinigeria.org/iff/register/.
According to Tope Ogundipe, the Chief Operating Officer at Paradigm Initiative Nigeria, “This call is to encourage interested participants in the Forum to formally register for the event as participation will be based strictly on prior registration and selection by the IFF2017 organising team. Also, for the first time, the Forum is soliciting calls for proposals for side sessions at the event. This has become necessary to help accommodate an Africa-wide and a more representative approach towards pushing for impactful policies on Internet freedom across Africa.”
The call for proposal opens from the 13th of October – 16th of December, 2016. We are calling on interested organizations across the globe particularly interested in engaging Internet freedom conversations, especially for Africa to kindly submit their proposals. All proposals will be treated on their merit. For more information on proposals please visit: https://pinigeria.org/iff/iff2017-proposal-guidelines/”
