About the Competition
- For four years in a row, Paradigm Initiative has produced short films from its annual Digital Rights and Inclusion Report- Londa.The 4th short film, Undersight, which is the latest in PIN’s stable, is inspired by the 2022 Londa Report which summarises the state of digital rights and inclusion across 24 African countries. The movie follows the journey of Omar, a brilliant computer programmer who creates revolutionary data collation software, which is in high demand.This competition is for young viewers between the ages of 18-30 who will watch the film, and ‘Fill in the Gap’ by creating scenarios they would have wished to see based on the movie plot/story. The competition allows the young viewers to showcase their creativity while angling to participate in the development of PIN’s 5th Short Film.
Instructions
- Go to Paradigm Initiative’s YouTube Channel @ParadigmHQ. Watch Undersight Short Film
- Fill in the Gap/s in the film by creating scenarios you would wish to have seen based on the movie plot/story. You can also build onto the existing story by plotting scenarios of “What If………”
- Be as creative as possible.
- Winners will be announced one week after the competition is closed.
- Eligibility: For young Africans living on the continent between the ages of 18-30.

Stage 1: Registration and Application
- Start Date - June 1, 2024.
- Duration and End Date - 4 weeks. Ends July 18, 2024
- Design Reviews - July 19th to July 25th, 2024
- Notice to Qualifying Designers - July 26th, 2024
Stage 2: Presentation and Defence
- Virtual Presentation and Defence of Design Concept - July 31st, 2024

How to Participate
- Register for the hackathon here.
- Review the following:
- Ayeta.africa website
- Ayeta game
- Ayeta digital rights toolkit (Download the Ayeta toolkit on ayeta.africa).
- Take up the challenge of redesigning the Ayeta website and game and infusing some of the toolkit content in your design (you can also introduce new games in your design).
- Submit your entry by June 28, 2024. You will be required to input your design concept, the ideas you considered as well as why you chose the concept you designed, this will be part of your defence if you proceed to the second stage.
- You will need to submit the prototype (this is compulsory) Figma link as well as the design link.
- The best ten designers will be contacted by the team for a virtual presentation to answer a few questions about the design concept.
